Bollywood star Sunny Deol’s dream project “Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas” featuring his son Karan Deol is set to showcase entire Manali, the adventure sports, its people, local artists, and the scenic beauty on the silver screen globally on September 20. While the movie has provided a platform to the local actors, Himachal is expecting a boom in the tourism industry. Sunny, who has been planning to set up a film city in Manali and has close relation with the local people, had committed to make a big-budget Bollywood movie totally based in Manali. From the lead roles to supporting actors, most of the star cast of Sunny directed PPDKP is from Himachal, particularly from Manali. As the theme of the movie is based on adventure sports of Manali that brings Karan close to lead actress Sahher Bambba, the state is expecting a boom in the tourism industry after the release of the film. Sunny has chosen lead actress Sahher Bambba from Himachal. However, according to Sunny, auditions for hunt for lead actress took place in many cities and he did not know that the girl belongs to Himachal until Sahher Bambba was shortlisted. The second lead role is performed by Manali girl Ritika Thakur. Kapil Negi, who runs an adventure travel company in Manali, is also in a major role who is a friend of Karan’s father and later his mentor after his father’s death. A large portion of the film is shot at Shaleen village near Manali and Sunny has given the opportunity to a large number of villagers to show their acting skills. Himachali song “Mera Bhola Hai Bhandari” fame Hansraj Raghuvanshi is given the opportunity to sing “Adha Bhi Jyada” song of the movie. MANALI: Hills of Manali are once again echoing with sound of light, camera and action as filmmakers have thronged here to take advantage of its snowy backdrop which gives a sense of foreign locations but at desi cost. A Bollywood film unit is camping here for the shooting of Purani Jeans with lead role of Tanuj Virwani, son of renowned actress Rati Agnihotri. Team would be shooting here for at least two weeks and then move on to Shimla to take some more shots. Nearly a dozen local residents have also been selected to work in the film after their proper auditions. Sarika Thakur, ex-wife of Kamal Haasan, and her daughter Shruti Haasan, have also reached Manali and are said to have their roles in the film. Meanwhile, shooting for a Telugu film is also going on here for some days. Julia Ukraine, a renowned model from Slovakia, is also shooting for an Indian commercial at Gulaba near Manali. According to local film coordinators, more film units are reaching here this summer. “Filmmakers ask for the current climate of Himachal along with photos and videos of locations. Beautiful backdrop of Manali with white snow on peaks is drawing their attention. More Bollywood and Tollywood units are coming Himachal in a row,” a film coordinator and line producer, Manoj Kumar, said. Resuming of regular flight service to Kullu and Kangra has doubled the hopes for big banner films and stars that earlier had to cancel their plans due to non-availability of flights to Himachal.

Sunny Deol’s third personal tour to Manali in a year has given birth to many speculations. This time Sunny was accompanied by his brother Bobby Deol who was staying in a private cottage at Shuru village of Manali. Sources say Sunny is putting strong efforts to own a film city in Manali and trying to convince state government to help him purchase a piece of land. During his last visits in March and April, Sunny had visited some orchards in the surroundings of Shanag and Raison villages and he fell in love with them. He also met with veteran politicians and discussed his future plans. Because his dream project would be beneficial for the tourism industry of the state both directly and indirectly, it was being told that government was ready to support his project to bring in a film city. Like his last tours, Sunny preferred privacy and avoided coming in sight of people. Most of the people could not get hang about it. Initially the reports were that both the brothers are here for shooting of film but all speculations turned out to be false. While staying in the serenity of nature, Sunny and Bobby again visited Shanag village where they enjoyed volleyball with local villagers and tried their hands in snowboarding. A source said that Sunny again visited some plots near Manali and before leaving for Mumbai, planned his next visit to Manali.

Apart from shooting some important scenes for movie ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’, Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza have been caught having romance in Manali. Their fans are rushing shooting locations to click them together. They saw Salman Khan starrer ‘Bodyguard’ at Piccadilly cinema in Manali together. According to sources in film unit, they appreciated the work of whole star cast and then hosted a party on the success of movie. Both stars enjoyed dinner at Jahnson cafe. They have been seen strolling around the valley alone. They are enjoying gossiping and laughing loudly on the set. Most of the time, Ritesh is busy capturing pictures of Genelia with his mobile. “We can see Ritesh revolving around the Genelia every time. The couple looks beautiful both on shoot and off the shoot,” a fan from Manali Ramesh Kanwar said. Ritesh was enjoying driving on the zigzag roads of Manali while Genelia is happy finding herself back in Manali after 10 years.
