Tourists can visit Rohtang area after obtaining a valid permit which is available online at https://rohtangpermits.hp.gov.in. Please note that permits are not required for tourists/individuals. Permits are required only for vehicles as a limited number of vehicles with permit are allowed to cross check post at Gulaba to reach Marhi and Rohtang pass. 08 May 2026: The Manali-Rohtang pass is open till Marhi, 17km before Rohtang pass. 03 January 2026: The Manali-Rohtang pass highway is closed officially for the winter season. The road will now reopen in the summer months (late April or May). 25 October 2025: Manali-Rohtang pass highway is open. Tourists can visit Rohtang pass to see fresh snow. 08 Aug 2025: Manali-Rohtang pass road is open to all the vehicles. However, keep an eye on local police and administration advisories as heavy rains sometimes trigger landslides which may block road temporarily. People visiting Rohtang for tourism purpose need to obtain online permit for their vehicle. 17 May 2025: Rohtang pass has been thrown open for tourists from today onwards. The vehicles will have to obtain permits (online) to be eligible to go beyond Gulaba check post, 23 km from Manali. A total of 1,200 online permits, including 800 petrol engine vehicles and 400 diesel engine vehicles, are issued on first book first get basis after paying permit fee of Rs 500 and congestion charges of Rs 50 (total Rs 550).
