Rohtang pass, popular tourist destination of Manali has been receiving the first spell of snowfall since Friday. Thick snowflakes falling from sky thrilled the tourists here.
The nearby mountains of Manali too received heavy snowfall while lower regions of Kullu received nominal showers of rain. To prevent October 22, 2010 like situation when around 3,000 tourists were stranded on Rohtang for one day after heavy snowfall, traffic to Rohtang top was stopped at Marhi, police said. The temperature in entire Kullu valley has dipped drastically.
Minimum temperature in Manali was recorded at 7.5 degree Celsius while it was 13 degree in Kullu. Keylong, Kalpa, Shimla, Dharamshala and Mandi registered minimum temperatures at 6.6, 6.9, 13.5, 14.1 and 17.5 degrees Celsius. Meteorological department Shimla has predicted clear sky in next 48 hours.
