A massive landslide triggered by cloudburst near Shambal village in Mandi district of Himachal on Saturday morning blocked the Chandigarh-Manali national highway which left hundreds of vehicles stranded for about eight hours. According to police, the cloudburst occurred early in the morning at around 6am above the Manjhi Nullah. The debris which came down after heavy downpour killed four cows and damaged a bridge on highway, police said. According to Mandi superintendent of police PD Prasad, the highway was blocked at Manjhi Nullah near Mandi town in the morning time. “The highway was restored at 2 pm. No casualty was reported from the area,” he said. Hundreds of tourists on the way to Manali had a tough time here. Shambal is about 100km before Manali on Delhi-Chandigarh-Manali national highway number 21.
