Unexpected snowfall thrills tourists in Manali
MANALI: No snowfall on Christmas has certainly disappointed thousands of tourists in Himachal but unexpected snowfall in Manali on Wednesday evening at 8:30pm thrilled them with joy and surprise.
While it was sunny day till noon, the black clouds started hovering over the sky in the afternoon. Suddenly it started snowing in the late evening without any rain. This happened due to extremely cold weather.
“The Weather God has defied all predictions. All the weather forecast sites, including local weatherman, show dry day with no signs of rain or snow. Still snowflakes are coming from the dark sky,” a shopkeeper Gaurav Sharma said.
Although there were few chances of snow accumulation on the ground, thin snowflakes were falling till filing of this report.
This was a surprise for tourists who had come to Manali with hope to see White Christmas. The tourists had to go to Solang valley and Kothi near the town to see snow. The nominal snowfall, however, fulfilled their wishes to some extent, especially those who never saw snowfall before this.
For hoteliers this was just a small trailer, but they are wishing for heavy snowfall by end of this month to make New Year celebrations full of thrill and memories.
