Tourists enjoy snowfall, temperature plunges after rain in Himachal

minimum and maximum temperature in Himachal have plunged by 5 to 10 degrees
Celsius in five days following rain in mid and low hills and snowfall in high
hills.

conditioner, visit Rohtang pass for fresh snowfall amid freezing temperature.
Rohtang, including other high hills of the state, are experiencing intermittent
snowfall since Wednesday. Thousands of tourists are thronging here every day
with hope to see snowfall. And some lucky ones are getting to see the showers
of white cotton. Snow accumulation on Rohtang is ranging from 1 foot to 10 feet
which is expected to last till mid July.
“We had just
reached Rohtang pass and snowfall started to cover our wind shield. We asked
driver to stop the car and then enjoyed the snowfall for at least 10 minutes.
Watching snowfall in June month was like a dream for my family,” a tourist from
Delhi, Rajeev Manchanda, said. The average temperature on Rohtang pass is below
5 degrees Celsius.
According to
Shimla Meteorological office, minimum temperature in Himachal was decreased by
1 to 2 degrees and maximum temperature decreased by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in
last 24 hours. “The entire state will get heavy rain and thundershowers on June
25. Even more rain is in store for the state till next seven days.”
At 11.6 degrees
Celsius, Keylong was the coldest inhabited place in Himachal. The cold winds in
Shimla (13.6), Kalpa (12.4) and Manali (14) have forced residents to switch off
their ceiling fans and bring out the sweaters from the closets. Una, close to
Punjab, was hottest in state at 34.8 degrees Celsius. Maximum temperature of
Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, Solan, Sundernagar and Nahan was recorded at 23.4,
18.8, 27.6, 28.5, 32.3 and 30.4 degrees Celsius respectively.
