Daily updates: 30 January 2026: The road to Atal tunnel and Lahaul valley is partially open only for local residents of Lahaul valley travelling in 4X4 vehicles with snow-chains. 27 January 2026: Another spell of heavy snowfall has blocked the highway to Atal tunnel, Rohtang, and Lahaul valley. 23 January 2026: The road to Atal tunnel and Lahaul valley is blocked following heavy snowfall. 05 January 2026: Manali-Atal tunnel road is open for all vehicles. 22 December 2025: Road to Atal tunnel and further to Sissu, Koksar, Keylong, Jispa, Darcha, Udaipur is open. 30 Aug 2025: The Manali-Atal tunnel road is still blocked while repair works by BRO are underway on war footings. The damaged section at Pagal Nala near Sissu in Lahaul has been repaired. 26 Aug 2025: The Manali-Atal tunnel road is blocked at multiple locations (Dhundi, Vashisht chowk, Samahan) following floods and landslides, and may take some days for restoration. The bypass road via Old Manali-Goshal-Shanag is also blocked. So, the alternative road to travel between Manali and Lahaul is via Rohtang pass (old road). However, the road is also blocked at Pagal Nala just before Sissu in Lahaul. Vehicles cannot go to Keylong, Jispa, Udaipur, Shinkula, Zanskar or Leh. The Pagal Nala section, which is damaged by flash floods, is expected to be restored by August 29 or 30. 08 Aug 2025: Manali-Atal tunnel road is open till Sissu, Keylong, Jispa, Padum/Leh.
