Mercury dips as Manali hills get snowfall

MANALI: The mercury in Manali plunged sharply after high hills in the region received fresh snowfall on Thursday. The met centre has predicted heavy snowfall in high and mid hills of Himachal in next two days.

Surrounding peaks of Manali have worn a white mantle making this tourist resort more picturesque. The town saw some sun in the morning but black clouds started hovering over it by the afternoon. The sharp drop in temperature has forced people to wear warm clothes.

Number of tourists visiting Manali is increasing slowly. The fresh snow on the hills is attracting more and more tourists.

Indrasan, Deo Tibba, Hanuman Tibba, CB Ranges, Reo Purgil and other peaks are receiving fresh snow, resulting in drop in both day and night temperature. Both day and night temperatures have decreased drastically.

According to local mountaineers, the peaks are experiencing fresh snowfall and the temperature has dropped sharply. The night temperature in Manali was recorded at minus 2.6 degrees Celsius.

Winter games lovers have thronged the slopes for skiing and snowboarding. They are expecting more snowfall in next few days.
